The problem

A clinical health sciences laboratory needed a way to track equipment and consumables being borrowed and returned by instructors and student assistants, alongside reservations for upcoming lab sessions. Without a shared system, tracking what was borrowed, by whom, and when it was due back relied on manual logs.

What we built

We built a real-time inventory tracking system with a full borrow/return workflow, a reservation system for scheduling equipment ahead of lab sessions, and role-based accounts for clinical instructors versus student assistants. The system also handles attendance tracking for lab sessions, audit logging of inventory actions, and reference material management for lab guides.

Results

Staff can see equipment availability and borrow history in real time instead of cross-checking paper logs, and the reservation system reduces double-booking of shared equipment ahead of scheduled lab sessions.
